reporting line
the position is based in tokyo and reports functionally to the t&ss asia pacific regional general counsel, based in hong kong as well as locationally to the head of japan legal and compliance
responsibilities
to partner with and provide legal supoprt and advice to the t&ss business in japan.japanese law qualified optimal.banks and non-bank financial institutions and government bodies worldwide, and specialty trust serivces for multi-national corporations, secuirties lenidng prorgams,
wss's principal activities include providing glboal custodial services, adr progarmmes, collcetive invetsment scehme and fund support related services.both written and oral
common law jurisdiction qualified with 7 years legal experience (optimally, a combination of experience as in-house counsel in the financial services industry and as a lawyer in a top tier law firm),
in particular, legal support will include:
reviewing and advising on new product initiatives
drafting and negotiating a variety of contracts (including custody, stock lending, and servicing agreements)
advising local t&ss management and other groups within t&ss on legal issues
liaising with regional colleagues and product and services specialists globally within legal
advising on japanese regulatory and legal issues generally
instructing and working with outside counsel
candidate qualifications
fluency in japanese and english. which comprises of two businesses, worldwide securities services ("wss") and treasury services ("ts"), japan (the "bank") to advise and support the treasury and securities services group ("t&ss"), a. in tokyo.japan legal counsel - worldwide securities services and treasury services
